Appeal University Exams: What to Know?

Upon arriving at the University we bet that many of our readers will print a smile on their lips once they find that, unlike high school, the exams did not coercive but volunteered. In short, you can manage time and study in the world that you feel most appropriate, and there is no worry about deadlines and surprises.

All this is true, but only in theory, because university appeals and sessions are fixed deadlines to which the student can not escape if he wants to keep up with the exams and not finish off course. But what exactly does this mean? We try to make some order, in the end it is not such a complicated matter.

University examinations: How appeals work

As a member of a particular faculty you will have a study plan  that stipulates that to acquire a certain number of CFUs – university degree credits – you will have to attend a number of courses and support the exam at the end. Exactly, but what does it mean in the end? The academic year is generally divided into two semesters, during which you will follow different courses, which usually range from mid-September to the end of February and March to the end of July. August is the month of the holidays.

In order to be able to take the exam of your course you have to wait for the first available exam session. In this case, ours are generic indications, but the periods of the three ordinary sessions are January – February, May – June – July and September. During these sessions there will be a variable number of appeals, that is, the ability to take the exam: there are usually two, but this is a variable number. All this means that you will have several chances to take an exam, but not an infinite time.

The teaching programs that you have followed have, in fact, a deadline set by the professor occupying the chair. It is possible that your examination is only written, oral or a combination of the two : in the latter case it is very likely that the writing will take place at the end of the course, but not during the actual exam session, and the vote which you will be assigned (if you accept it) will go to the middle with the second oral part.

Subscribe to University Exam: How to Do It

How to sign up for an exam? It is very difficult to answer specific, because each University has its own modes. However, almost always before the exams, starting from a fixed period of time, the list of all appeals to which you can subscribe to the University’s web portal will be available to you (as long as you are registered with the ” ongoing academic year, fees and bureaucracy, as well as attendance obligations or participation in extra activities). You will then choose the date of the appeal that will convince you and then you will have to present the exam day. Absence usually does not lead to penalties, but this is also at university discretion.

Do not confuse, and remember that even if you have attended a course in the first semester, you will be able to hold the corresponding exam during the second, or the year after the University reopens in September. In the event of slippage even further then it is probable that you have to communicate with a certain advance to take the program of the previous year into consideration. But we always take into account the expiration of the programs we mentioned.

As you have seen freedom is great, but this element is really a double cut weapon: learning to arrange time and meeting deadlines remains a top priority for students making their debut in the university world.
